I just can't escape this topic. It keeps on and on intruding into my life. Here goes, one last time:
Glenn Beck can sob out his conversion testimony until the cows come home. He can claim to be saved by grace because of his faith in Jesus. He can say it in the most convincing terms possible; however, until he publicly repudiates his affiliation with the Mormon cult, we must assume he is speaking in the Mormon vernacular. To do anything else is just willful ignorance.
I can not believe how many times a day I am defending my faith against this particular assault... from people who claim to be Christians... from people who go to my church! I feel discouraged.
Perhaps instead of beating this dead horse, I should just dismount.
Careful... We don't want to "offend" anyone... Especially at church!
ReplyDelete@Rebecca- The offense is already done. That was me "beating the dead horse." I'm now pronouncing the horse "dead" and officially dismounting. Let me explain... This analogy is unwholesome, but I think it is an exact representation of the Beckophilia christianoids.
ReplyDeleteIf you had a guy friend who inadvertently went out with a beautiful woman, whom you knew to be a transvestite, you'd be obliged to take your friend aside quickly and alert him of the understandable error.
If your friend continued to see this transvestite you might warn him even more urgently thinking he just didn't understand you.
However, at some point, you have to realize that your friend just likes dudes. Right? He's fully informed of the anatomical differences between a real woman and the object of his affection; therefore, he's made an informed choice. Have at it! Rock on bro! Just don't call yourself straight anymore-- because you're not.
Of course, the only reason I can speak this way is because nobody reads my blog but you and a few strangers on occasion :-)
I agree with you 100%, but it's your last sentence I identify with best, and that bothers me... I am tired of being told "no to cause division in the body"... If there is a cancer in the body I want it cut out.
ReplyDeleteIs is the job of the pastoral staff to get butts in seats or to teach and grow the body... Because those are different things and the "don't offend" mind set seems to be from the former and not the later.
When we first started going to church with you guys there was a family that was going that completely disagreed with everything the pastor taught and had been going for a long time. In fact the husband only came to Sunday school and always had the attitude of "teaching us brain washed imbeciles." My husband and I were not amused and he (we) took every opportunity to "engage" this individual as possible. If they were there to learn and grow fine, but just to be the "opposing view"... No thank you... Why was this allowed to go on and why were we treated as suspect by some after (he) we challenged them?
PS. I know you were talking about "glen beck acolytes" here... I'm just venting since "nobody" reads this but you...
ReplyDeleteGreetings -
ReplyDeleteYou all do not know how pleased I am to have found this site. No shrinking violets here! My kind of Christians. Thank you, Lord.
I appreciate you faithful fervent friends of GOD. It is my pleasure that you are in the body of our Lord Christ.
Proverbs 28:1, "...but the righteous are bold as a lion."
Proverbs 30:30
"A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;"
I firmly believe in love according to the Words of our Lord. Some people, though, do not fully understand that love has a variation of applications. There has been focus on GOD's love but not much discussion about His judgments, wrath and fury. That is FULL gospel. Like when JESUS overthrew tables and seats (Matthew 21:12). Also, JESUS at one point, called Peter Satan (Mark 8:33). Lastly, The Acts 13:10 when Paul spoke, "And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?"
Was love in flow in the above noted accounts? I believe so.
It would be of benefit if more people would understand that love ain't no wimp!
And the FULL gospel is the business of our Lord, and it should FULL well be the business of those who profess to know Him.
Beck is a puzzlement to me and you are absolutely right. We watch him from time to time and last night he said he was a Christian a couple of times and even mentioned Jesus. We do have to assume he is using Mormonese, though...it is NOT the gospel.
ReplyDeleteI LIKE Beck, and I think a lot of people do, I wish he were a Christian.:(
