A Few Thoughts on "Restoring Honor"

Without an emulsifying agent,
oil and water don't mix.
The "egg" of moralism is
used to blend Christian faith
with other ideologies from
which we should separate.

Every now and then, Christians get up in a dither about the state of moral decline in America.  Well meaning folks link arms with a variety of ideologies to protest bad behavior (sin) and give a rousing approval for good behavior (moralism).  The recent Glen Beck lead "revival" in Washington was one such event.  Since I've shared my opinion about Glen Beck in a previous posts, I won't waste time on that.  I have a few simple thoughts to share about this event.

When we links arms with people in false religions for a seemingly good cause, the very first thing left behind is Christ.  Specifically, the Christ revealed in scripture, the Christ who is GOD, and the Christ who died as an atonement for sinners; you know, The Way, The Truth, The Life Christ.  That is a price which no Christian should ever be willing to pay for unity over a cause.

Moralism seems like a good thing, but absent from the Gospel of Grace, it is nothing more than legalism, which has no power to save nor restrain sin.

"For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers"  Matthew 23:4
