Monday Musings...

I was glad when they said unto me,
Let us go into the house of the LORD.
What a glorious weekend.  I had the best Lord's day in quite some time.  First, I got to be a part of a building dedication at Oakwood Freewill Baptist Church, where my dear friend is the pianist.  After the service, they had an old fashioned "Pig Picking" and lots of great fellowship.  As if that wouldn't be enough to make Sunday memorable, I had the privilege of listening to a presentation from a church planter in my city.  He really helped me to have a better understanding of the need for increased efforts in church planting, especially in my town.  I really want to get involved in this endeavor.  I don't know how yet, but I know God will help me figure out a way.

Also, I got introduced to a new approach for Bible study.  I'm going to give it a try for a month.  I've been convicted lately about how little time I spend reading scripture compared to the time I spend reading other materials.  I'll write a review of it a month from now, God willing.

Finally,  I've been made aware that there are uncharitable eyes lurking out there.  I just want you to know that my most fervent desire is for you to know the forgiveness that comes when you humble your heart, see your sin as offensive to a Holy God and trust in the risen Lord for the forgiveness of sins.  God loves you and has commended His love to you in this way:  while you were yet His enemy, He sent His son, Jesus to die in your place.  He was crucified and the wrath of the Father you deserve was poured out on Him.  He was put in a tomb, but He didn't stay there.  On the third day, Jesus -God the Son- was resurrected.  He is now with the Father in heaven, but He is coming again.  Please obey the Gospel (good news), repent and believe.  God will not turn away anyone who comes to him with a hunger to be made right with Him.

Post Script:  Since someone brought it up to me:  No.  The church pictured above is not Oakwood Freewill Baptist, but a small country church which was struck by lightening and burned to the ground shortly after I took this photo.  I used it because it's so idealistic.  I'm so glad I got this picture before it burned.
